WHAT ARE NEUROTOXINS?
Many wonder what neurotoxins like Botox, Jeuveau, and Xeomin are made of and how they interact with your body. These products are neuromodulators made from purified forms of Botulinum toxin, which are carefully processed to ensure safety and efficacy. When injected in small, controlled doses by our professional medical injectors, these treatments safely relax specific muscles, reducing wrinkles without affecting overall facial expressions.
Each product has subtle differences: Botox is the most recognized brand, Jeuveau (sometimes called "Newtox") is a newer alternative with similar results, and Xeomin is a highly purified form that contains only the active ingredient without additives. At IZO Aesthetics & Wellness, we take a "Zero-In" approach to determine which product is ideal for your specific needs, ensuring targeted treatment that optimizes your unique facial features.

Botox works by reducing muscle movement under the skin, which is the real cause of wrinkles. Wrinkles are essentially folds of skin that are caused by the muscles under the skin contracting thousands and thousands of times, eventually "etching" in wrinkles in their fold points. You can notice this by looking in the mirror and raising your eyebrows—you will see lines form where the skin wrinkles on your forehead! Botox works to block the nerve signals in these muscles, thereby stopping the formation of these wrinkles.
How does Botox Work?
Sometimes people who have a routine of getting Botox for multiple years will start to see a diminishing effect. However, this is not unique to Botox and is a phenomenon we see with every neuromodulator. Sometimes, people will find that switching from Botox to Dysport or vice-versa will achieve greater results. At IZO, we tailor our approach to find what works best for your unique needs.
Does Botox ever stop working?
What can i expect during my Botox Treatment?
During your Botox consultation, we will assess the muscle movement in the areas you hope to treat (forehead, "11" lines, "Crow's Feet" etc.) and recommend a range of dosing options. Once we determine the correct dosing, your skin will be marked with a skin marker to note the correct placement of the injections. Then one of our aesthetic injectors will provide the injections. After this, your skin will be cleaned off and your appointment will be complete. Our "Zero-In" approach ensures precision targeting for optimal results.
How many units of Botox do i need?
This is a great question, and the answer really depends on "How much residual movement you are okay with?" With Botox injections, the number of units correlates with the reduction in movement, so a higher dose will equal less movement, and a lighter dose will result in decreased, but with some residual movement. Some people prefer to have NO muscle movement left, and some people prefer to retain more movement (in order to be more expressive). Below are some general guidelines to help you plan your discussion with your injector.
Receiving Botox injections feels like a little bee sting. Some people do not mind it at all and some people like to squeeze on stress balls. Either way, you will definitely think it is worth it! Our medical professionals will make sure you are comfortable and help you through any worries you may have about receiving Botox injections.
Does Botox Hurt?
How Long does Botox Last?
Generally speaking, you can expect BOTOX to have a VERY NOTICEABLE effect for 2-3 months, and after this, you will see the diminishing effect until, usually, NO effect is seen at the 5-month mark. However, the most important thing to remember with Botox is:
DOSE = DURATION
The more units of Botox you receive per area, the longer it works.
How long does it take for Botox to work?
You will start to see it work at around day 5 and will continue to notice a progressively stronger effect until it peaks at day 14. Some people may see the results as soon as 24 to 48 hours after the treatment, while others may take up to a week to see the full effects. The exact amount of time it takes for Botox to start working depends on several factors, including the individual's metabolism, muscle activity, and the amount of Botox used. It's important to follow the post-treatment instructions provided, such as avoiding rubbing or massaging the treated area, to ensure that the Botox takes effect properly.
Will I look “FAKE” with Botox?
If used correctly, even full doses of Botox with maximum effect will look natural! It all depends on the correct placement as to make sure areas critical for expression and natural look are properly treated. Our trained medical professionals at IZO are highly skilled in facial anatomy and will ensure that you receive the right amount of Botox in the proper areas for your desired look.
WHO IS RIGHT FOR BOTOX?
Botox wrinkle relaxers are suitable for individuals who want to address the appearance of lines before they begin to form, or for those who are starting to see the onset of wrinkling to prevent lines from deepening. Both men and women can benefit from Botox if they experience bothersome fine lines, wrinkles, or crow's feet on their face. Whether you aim to prevent future wrinkles or diminish existing ones, Botox can effectively provide a solution.
To determine if Botox is right for you based on your unique needs and medical history, consult with our qualified medical professionals at IZO Aesthetics & Wellness. Botox is ideal for individuals in good overall health with realistic expectations for the treatment's results. This non-surgical and relatively quick procedure offers a way to achieve smooth skin and prevent the formation of deep lines and wrinkles.
